Kaylee Brown

Kaylee Brown, CTRS Director of Recreational Therapy

BIO

Kaylee Brown earned her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy with institutional honors from the University of Toledo in 2017. Following graduation, she completed two internships—one at Special Tree, where she specialized in Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury, and another at the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC), where she focused on adaptive outdoor recreation and advanced to the role of Adaptive Ski Office Manager.

Kaylee went on to serve as a Recreational Therapist at Craig Hospital, where she contributed to adaptive programming, community re-integration, and horticulture therapy initiatives. She later relocated to Fort Wayne, where she provided community-based recreational therapy services through the Medicaid waiver system, with an emphasis on fostering independence and reintegration.

With over eight years of experience as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Kaylee has worked with a wide range of populations and abilities. She brings a dynamic, versatile skill set and a deep commitment to improving quality of life through meaningful, leisure-based interventions. Known for balancing accountability with encouragement, she empowers individuals to become more engaged, independent, and productive members of their communities.

Peter Reyes

Peter Reyes, CTRS Recreational Therapy Program Supervisor

BIO

Peter Reyes, CTRS, graduated from Indiana University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation. During his time at IU, he worked as a Youth Program Coordinator for at-risk youth at Middle Way House, where he organized confidence-building activities such as a camping trip to Camp Kentahten and served as a mentor in the “Boys Club” program.

Alongside his studies and professional work, Peter also served in the Indiana Army National Guard from 2015 to 2021.

After earning his degree and CTRS certification, Peter began working as a Recreational Therapist in the Fort Wayne community through the community-based waiver system. He has since served a wide range of individuals with varying levels of functioning, promoting healthier lifestyles through physical activity, nutrition education, and leisure skill development.

Peter is committed to enhancing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of his clients. Through attentive care and leading by example, he helps individuals achieve a better quality of life through meaningful leisure experiences.

Mackenzie turner

Mackenzie Turner, MS, CTRS Recreational Therapist

BIO

Mackenzie graduated from The University of Saint Francis with her Bachelors in Pre-Art Therapy, in May of 2015, focusing on therapy through art and psychology. She continued her education and obtained her Masters of Science in Recreational Therapy in August of 2017 from Indiana University. She has more than a decade of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of varying ages. During college, she began working at Turnstone in Fort Wayne, IN in the childcare, caring for children with various disabilities. She assisted the teacher in providing classroom-setting curriculum as well as opportunities for physical activity, learning and play. While working on her masters, she worked as an ABA Therapist for children with autism of various ages. Mackenzie worked with early learners, teaching them how to begin and develop communication, strengthen social skills and develop friendships, learn through play as well as preparing children to enter into the classroom and community. 

Following graduation, she had served the Indianapolis area for 2 years as a Recreational Therapist, through the Medicaid Waiver, before moving back home to the Fort Wayne area in 2019, where she has continued to provide services as a CTRS to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the home and community, through the waiver. 

Mackenzie is extremely passionate about helping others and loves being a witness to individuals growing, learning and experiencing enhanced quality of life through recreational and leisure activities.
